Should I Get one Cat or two?

This question may have popped into any first time cat owners mind but the answer depends entirely on a few factors that are linked with you and the cat you are getting of course!

Let's say that you have decided to adopt a cat, should you get another one? First of all, why do you need to ask this question? Is it perhaps just because you read on the internet that two cats are better than one, or are there reasons like long working hours, and you are worried that the kitty will get lonely?

Lets have an in depth look at the factors to consider.

Budget

The first and foremost question you should be asking yourself is whether you can afford it? Because if you cannot then there is no use even considering getting another cat. It will only cause you stress and both your cats will not get the care that they deserve. This may include separate cat accessories like cat tree & tower, cat bed and food supplies. But, if you can afford another easily, let's move onto the next factor to consider.

Long Working Hours

If you are a person that works long hours and will have to leave your cat alone; then getting two cats maybe ideal for you. The cats will keep each other company, and yes, single cats can get lonely. So, it is a lot better to get two cats than to come home to an unpleasant surprise in your bed or kitchen. Lonely cats can exhibit destructive and disruptive behavior, and obviously you do not want that.

Breed of Your Kitty

Some of the breeds are more introverted while the others love more company. How your cat reacts to another feline, and if it needs the company of another feline or not can depend on the breed and the cats personality. Persian cats are quite passive in nature and love to be left alone whereas a siamese will follow you around and give their opinion about everything. It is specially recommended to get two cats if your kitty is a siamese. However, ensure that you cat reacts well to the other feline and assess if possible if the two are compatible in terms of nature.

The General Opinion

Generally cat lovers and experts will always tell you to get two cats instead of one because this choice provides double the love and company. However, carefully consider all the involved factors and that getting another cat also means double the responsibility. If you cannot afford the time to take care of two cats then Cat Evolution carries smart automatic cat feeders and smart water fountain; as well as a Self Cleaning Litter Box that will greatly reduce the time you need to care for your kitty cats. However, if you decide a second kitty is not a viable option, make sure you are able to spend quality time with your kitty and buy them loads of toys. This will keep them engaged and prevent them from getting bored.

Whatever you decide, set realistic expectations after considering all things involved. Because, yes cats are a joy to be around but there is also responsibility being an owner of a marvelous feline or two. Wishing you lots of joy with your beloved kitty cats.
